Based in Los Angeles, CA Sleeves Inc. was conceived by visionary Christien Tinsley. Tinsley carved his niche in Hollywood by earning his status as one of the film industry’s most sought after make-up artists (in 2005 Tinsley was nominated for an Oscar for The Passion of the Christ.) His duties as a make-up artist on such films as XxX and Pearl Harbor included application of tattoo artwork in the form of temporary tattoos. The reality of making clothing with this kind of artwork was inevitable. In 2003, Sleeves Inc was created.

Using the tattoo culture as its platform, Sleeves Inc. exploded onto the fashion scene with only four original pieces, quickly establishing a reputation of bringing tattoo chic to the masses. Word soon spread throughout North America and Europe with the buzz reaching celebrities like Brad Pitt, who selected pieces for a 15-page feature in L’Uomo Vogue. Vin Diesel ordered custom shirts for the cast and crew of Chronicles of Riddick and most recently National Figure Skating Champion Michael Weiss requested a signature design for the 2004-2005 figure skating season.

By combining tattoo design with a graphic arts approach the clothing is sexy and playful using bold colors and unique artwork on mesh fabric. Tinsley meticulous attention to detail and sense of style is evident in the patterns which are designed to make the artwork wrap and conform to the anatomy of the body.
